2022 Municipal Election
If for any reason you will be unable to cast your ballot in person on Election Day or at an advance poll, proxy voting allows you to appoint another person to vote on your behalf. A voting proxy is someone who is an eligible voter in the City of Brantford and who you trust to vote in accordance with your wishes. The first possible day for an elector to appoint a voting proxy is Monday, August 22, 2022. Proxy applications can be submitted between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily or during the hours of 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on any day of an advance vote at City Hall, 58 Dalhousie St.
A person can only act as a proxy for one other person, except this does not apply if the proxy and the other person are spouses or siblings of each other, parent and child, or grandparent and grandchild.
(a) complete an application in the prescribed form, including a statutory declaration that he or she is the person appointed as a voting proxy; and
(b) present the application and the appointing document to the Clerk at the clerk’s office, or any place designated by the clerk, in person.
The application may be presented at any time when the clerk’s office or other place designated by the Clerk is open. Then a signature is required from the Clerk or designate.
