How to vote online
Eligible voters will receive a Voter Information Letter by mail. This letter will include your unique Voter Identification Number and Voter PIN along with your full name and address. This letter will also provide instructions on how to begin your online voting session.

- Online Voting commences at 10:00 a.m. on October 3rd. The voting portal will remain open until 8:00 p.m. on October 24.
- It generally takes 7 to 10 minutes to complete your voting process. The Voting process is timed to a 20 minute session maximum.
- In order to use the online voting process, each elector will need:
- Access to the Internet
- Their unique Voter Identification Number and Voting PIN found on their Voter Information Letter

The website says I am already registered?
The website has indicated an error and is giving a message that you are already registered. If you receive this response please make sure you are filling out the information correctly. When completing your Voter Login, ensure that you are using the information exactly as it appears on your Voter Information Letter. The Voter Identification Number and Voter PIN will be indicated on your Voter Information Letter, directly under the online voting instructions.
Where is my Voter PIN?
Each elector's unique Voter PIN is located on their Voter Information Letter directly beneath the online voting instructions.
What if I received the following error “Your request could not be completed at this time”?
Press "Continue" and you will return the homepage. Press “Vote” again and your login process will continue.

- Electors on the Voters' List will receive a Voter Information Letter in the mail before the voting period commences containing their unique Voter Identification Number and Voter PIN, as well as instructions on how to access their online voting session.
- Starting October 3rd, electors who did not receive their Voter Information Letter in the mail can visit City Hall (58 Dalhousie St. to receive a Voter Information Letter.
- Electors that have received their Voter Identification Number and Voter Pin will be able to complete their online voting session by following the steps in the Step by Step Vote Casting Process.

- Each elector on the Voters' List will be provided with a secure and unique Elector ID on their personally addressed Voter Information Letter. This notice will contain the instructions on where to vote (polling station etc.) as well as instructions on how to register to vote using the Online Poll
- Voters choosing to cast their ballot online can access the City of Brantford's online voting system by visiting brantford.ca/Election.
- Once logged into the online voting system, you can input your credentials as found on your Voter Information Letter alongside your security code (your date of birth)
- Once you have entered your voter credentials and security code, please press the submit button. The system will check and validate your voter credentials ensuring that you are eligible to vote
- Once your credentials are validated, you will be prompted to read and agree to the “Oath of Qualification” and “Notice of Offence”, which detail the qualifications required to participate in the Municipal Election.
- You must accept the terms of the oath by selecting the “Accept” button. If you select the “Decline” button, you will be exited from the system. This does not prevent you from re-entering the voting system and accepting the terms of the oath at a later time
- You will now be prompted to mark your ballot. On-screen instructions indicate how many selections you are to mark on your ballot
- You will mark your ballot by clicking anywhere on the line containing the name of the candidate you wish to vote for. This selection will be indicated by a checkmark being displayed next to the candidate you selected
- You can change your selection at any time by de-selecting the original mark and making a new selection. Once you are comfortable with your selection, you can select the next contest button to move to the next ballot race. You can move to the next or previous ballot race to make a change to your selection at any time.
- You will be presented with the Ballot Review screen once you have completed all the ballots available to be voted
- If there are any under or over-voted races, these warnings are displayed next to the race.
- You can return to any ballot and make a change to your selections by using the "go back" button or the selection box at the top of the ballot.
- Once you are happy with your ballot selections, press the “Cast Ballot” button. You will not be able to make any changes or access the voting system once you select "Cast Ballot".
- When you have completed all the ballot races and confirmed your selections, a “Voting Completed” message is displayed on screen indicating that your ballot has been cast. You cannot re-access the voting system and your namer will be crossed off the Voters' List. A voter cannot print a ballot from within the remote voting system.

How to get a Voter Information Letter
If you have not received a Voter Information Letter in the mail by October 3rd, 2022 you can attend City Hall during regular business hours to be issued a Letter with your unique Voter Identification Number and Voter PIN.
Staff will require proof of your eligibility to vote in order to issue a Voter Information Letter. A list of acceptable identification is available for review ahead of your visit. Please contact election@brantford.ca for any questions related to the Voter Information Letter and Voters' List.
